Jacob Gard is the PCM Specialist for Edgar, Douglas, and Coles counties. Born and raised in West Union, Jacob is the 6th generation to be involved in agriculture. After graduating from Marshall High School, he attended Lake Land Junior College attaining an associate degree in Ag Business and Supply. Following that he received a bachelors in Ag Systems and Technology from SIUC. Jacob also served as a radio operator in the Marine Corps reserves throughout his college years.

Professionally Jacob has spent many years in the chemical and fertilizer business as an applicator, salesman or manager, most recently managing a grain elevator and retail fertilizer and chemical business, as well as serving as the environmental health and safety manager for the company.

Jacob and his wife, Megan, have 3 young children: Clayton, Cassie Jo, and Walt. He serves on the Marshall School Board and various boards for Zion United Methodist Church. Jacob and Megan also run a small non-profit that raises money for SCN8A research and makes weighted blankets to donate to special needs children. He also recently joined the Illinois state board of education’s advisory council on the education of children with disabilities.

As a PCM Specialist, Jacob’s goal is to apply his agronomic background to conservation practices to improve profitability, sustainability, and efficiency for farmers in his region.

This is a great way to test how the University of Illinois’ MRTN works on your own soils. Receive $250 per field to install N strip trials.

Pepsico & Partners Regenerative Ag Incentive

Recieve $5-25 per acre for using conservation practices. Available to all farmers and all acres, regardless of practice history (does not discriminate against early adopters).

PCM Regional Conservation Partnership Program

NRCS offers farmers anywhere from $35-$64/a to grow cover crops. Many options are available with varying funding levels.
