Helping Nebraska Farmers Turn Field Data into Profits: Meet Seth Norquest
Precision Conservation Management (PCM) employs Conservation Specialists throughout the Midwest to give farmers the information, tools, and one-on-one support to make in-field practice decisions with confidence – at no cost to the farmer!
Meet Seth Norquest: PCM Specialist serving farmers in the York, Nebraska region.
Seth works directly with farmers to analyze field-level data, evaluate in-field practices, and identify opportunities to improve profitability while protecting natural resources. From organizing farm records to exploring strategies that reduce input costs, Seth helps producers turn their data into practical management decisions.
Seth brings both academic expertise and real-world experience to the role. He holds a Master’s degree in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he specialized in precision nitrogen management technology. During his graduate studies, Seth worked with UNL Extension while remaining actively involved in his family’s farming operation.
That combination of research and hands-on farming experience helps Seth connect with farmers and understand the real decisions they face each season.
We recently sat down with Seth to learn more about his work with PCM and what he’s hearing from Nebraska farmers:
What has your experience working with farmers been like so far?
“I have really enjoyed working with farmers as a Specialist with PCM. It’s exciting to bring actionable insights to the growers I work with that can increase profitability while also improving the adoption of sustainable agronomic practices.
I find that the most rewarding part of my work is what I am able to learn from the growers. Our program guarantees 100% anonymity and unbiased data; therefore, I can help my farmers by identifying what has been working for others and work with them to fit successful practices into their operation.
Gaining farmers’ trust by providing quality recommendations that are not solely based on environmental outcomes, but rather with the individual farmer’s bottom line in mind, is the most rewarding aspect of this position and one of the greatest strengths of the PCM program.”
What type of farmer is the best fit for PCM?
“Any farmer who is willing to analyze their operation and identify areas that they want to work on to improve environmental or economic outcomes is an ideal PCM farmer. From farmers who want assistance getting started to farmers who are more advanced in their adoption of sustainable practices, both can find tremendous value in what PCM has to offer.”
What are you most excited about heading into 2026?
“I am excited about PCM’s expansion into the Beatrice and Norfolk areas with the support of the Nebraska Corn Board. This will give more farmers access to the valuable resources PCM has to offer.
As for my region, I am looking forward to hearing from my farmers about how their season is going. Many of the growers are experimenting with new practices or strategies that we discussed during their annual report deliveries in February, all of which aim to improve their profits and/or sustainability. One of the main areas of focus this season has been nutrient management and strategies for cutting those input costs while maintaining yields.”
If you’re farming in the York region and want to take a closer look at what your field data might reveal, Seth is ready to help!
